Frame: Pop Up Store
Last June, Munich experienced the birth of the temporary department store – or, to put it more correctly, a spatial arrangement of typical department-store attributes. Contributing to the retail experience were elements like hot-air curtain at the entrance, Muzak, shop-window mannequins and carrier bags. These were found not in a bona fide emporium, however, but in the city's Museum of Cultural Anthropology. Four designers – Frederique Desvaux (für alle), Peter Trunzer (camp), Marc Ziegler and Xuyen Dam (Mar X) – incorporated these materials into a showroom for young Munich designers in need of a sales outlet. This Kaufhaus (department store) accompanied Designparcours, a ten-day design hapening in the southern German city.
